SDN (Software-defined Networking) in GENI
Schedule
Wednesday, 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Session Leader
Marshall Brinn, GENI Project Office
Speakers
Nick Bastin, Big Switch Ilia Baldine, RENCI Joe Mambretti, ICAIR
Agenda / Details
The goal of the session is to discuss and clarify how we expect an experiment to run at a campus or across multiple campuses.
Specifically we hope to discuss approaches to questions such as:
- What abstraction of the network does GENI provide to experimenters for programming and configuring?
- What role does OpenFlow (or other SDN mechanisms) play in providing a sandbox for experimenters?
- What role does OpenFlow (or other SDN mechanisms) play in allowing experimenters to manipulate operations within that sandbox?
- How does the problem of stitching across campuses impact the experimenter's ability to program their network substrate?
